JF DnG ACTournament: Derby | Round: 1 | Opponent: Maize DS | Judge: Hindman ACDefinitionsAppropriation: Oxford Dictionary notes that appropriation is "the action of taking something for one's own use, typically without the owner's permission." ====First off my value is creativity, and how cap and psychoanalysis limits its boundaries – Capitalism limits what people can desire and create; they are dependent on what can realistically sell on the market. Take an artist for example, they can only create what they can sell. This financial incentive completely limits what one can dream and seek to create, since cap measures objects and ideas via their financial worth. The only solution to this inherent problem is schizophrenic thought, as it transcends the constraints capitalist realism places on them (explain CR if necessary). With schizophrenic thought, one can simultaneously be in their own world and ours – making the barriers capitalism places on us completely useless.==== ====Psychoanalysis seeks to understand what is wrong with schizophrenics, a term here used by Deleuze and Guattari to refer to not just to the mentally ill but rather those who don't fit perfectly into modern society (i.e. all of us), and further seeks to repair the metaphorical cracks in our minds. It uses Freudian ideology and philosophy to "fix" those it deems "flawed", when instead, we should use the criterion of schizoanalysis to help humans break free from the boundaries of Capitalism and governmentality. Capitalism and psychoanalysis seeks to limit us, whereas schizoanalysis seeks to allow us to truly be free – to use our imperfections to truly be creative rather than to restrict our desires.==== Capitalism makes seeking meaning and creativity impossible – only my criterion can free us from the bounds of ideology.Deleuze and Guattari 1972 (Gilles and Felix; Anti-Oedipus) 249-250 Contention 1Contention one is Uncreative SpaceSpace is the new spatial fix for capitalistkind – capitalism's inherent expansionist nature means that space development perpetuates capitalism by allowing a new site for surplus capital and innovation to avoid terrestrial economic crises. Profit-first solutions ensures exhaustion and colonization of lank Space.Shammas and Holen 19 (Victor L. Shammas and Tomas B. Holen, 1-29-2019, "One giant leap for capitalistkind: private enterprise in outer space," Nature, https://www.nature.com/articles/s41599-019-0218-9)//kh Corporate space exploration is the harbinger of the latest stage of spectacle capitalism that justifies the flattening of humanity in favor of silly space-rock profits!!!Shammas and Holen 19 (Victor L. Shammas and Tomas B. Holen, 1-29-2019, "One giant leap for capitalistkind: private enterprise in outer space," Nature, https://www.nature.com/articles/s41599-019-0218-9)//kh Corporations exploring space limits the possibilities of human creativity. The first Shammas and Holen card explains how space development and exploration by private companies actively promotes capitalism. These corporations are engaging promulgating and continuing one of the most harmful ideas known to mankind. With capitalism and without schizoanalysis, we are not free to desire, we are not free to truly use our greatest feature; our creativity. We cannot explore and create what WE truly want because capitalist profit incentives are all that currently drive human creativity.Contention 2Contention two is capitalism badCapitalism emphasizes profit and violently reterritorializes independent thought to achieve this – this extends the harmful capitalist realism status quo and keeps people locked in psychological prisonsDeleuze and Guattari, 1972, "Anti-Oedipus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia," Capitalism is the absolute evil in the status quo – its very nature implies violence and that violence will continue until our eventual demise.Anievas and Nisancioglu, 6-18-2015, "Capitalism: A History of Violence," Disorder Of Things, https://thedisorderofthings.com/2015/06/18/capitalism-a-history-of-violence/ Capitalism justifies imperialism and endless exploitation, destroying value to life through everyday violenceDeleuze and Guattari 1972, Anti-Oedipus, 372-4 | 1/29/22 |
