Tournament: Badgerland | Round: 1 | Opponent: MillardNorth NL | Judge: Sheikh
Interpretation: The aff must defend the entire resolution resolved: a just government ought to recognize the unconditional right of workers to strike as a general principal
Violation – they only defend farmers
Standards:
Limits: There’s an infinite number of countries that they could spec AND choose combinations of – that’s supercharged by the fact that they can also spec types of workers - Kills neg burdens – it’s impossible for me to research every possible combination of countries and workers. Functional limits don’t check – each individual sector has implications and articles as to why it is bad.
Ground: They spike out of core neg ground based in global implementation like the Econ DA, Military DA, Brain Drain DA, and Health Care Workers DA which makes it impossible to generate offense
Small schools: The topic changes every two months which already stresses research burdens - their interpretation makes it so schools with few resources are always behind because of their inability to do target research
Topical Version of Aff Solves: Just read your aff as an advantage to a whole rez aff. We aren’t stopping them from reading new FWs, mechanisms, or advantages.
Voters
Fairness: Fairness is a constitutive feature of debate because it is a game and needs to have equal ground to participate. Fair engagement/accessibility is a prerequisite to debate education.
DTD on T-- indicts the 1AC advocacy meaning its the same as DTA and is the only way to check future abuse
Competing Interps on T since its binary and a question of models-- Good enough isn’t good—there can be no reasonable interp of what the topic actually means meaning its judge intervention.
No RVI- It’s their burden to be T you shouldn’t reward them for proving they were and discourages checking real abuse.
T before 1AR theory -- A If we had to be abusive it’s because it was impossible to engage their aff B T outweighs on scope because their abuse affected every speech that came after the 1AC C Topic norms outweigh on urgency – we only have a few months to set them
